Glyphosate - The Hot Toxin

Glyphosate the Hot Toxin

GOOD MORNING GLYPHOSATE

Glyphosate - The Hot Toxin

Glyphosate is a current hot-topic in the news, and consumers are being flooded with information that is both true and false. Glyphosate is a chemical that's found in a series of breakfast cereals and concentrated juices (organic and non-organic). It’s an ongoing debate on how dangerous the detected amounts are found in food and beverages. One side of the argument says there is no reason to worry because the concentrations meet the legal limits set by the EPA - whereas the other side states that any trace amount of Glyphosate in foods are harmful. At TestSharing we try to limit the discussion on whether or not the trace amounts of chemicals like Glyphosate in our foods are harmful, and drive the conversation more towards this question:

Who should be the one deciding on how much of these chemicals go into your food, the EPA, or you as the consumer?

Unfortunately, in many cases there is simply not enough evidence on the health effects of how much of these type of chemicals are safe to consume. With this in mind, the EPA and the other regulatory agencies allow small trace amounts into the food system. This is a huge problem, because these trace amounts accumulate, or build up in the body over time. There is numerous studies that conclude that the accumulation of these toxins that the EPA allows in our food causes negative and fatal health effects. They can cause damage to our cells, organs, and complex systems in our body. These legal limits are clearly not based on human health considerations, so as long as authorities consider chemicals safe until proven guilty, distributors are not forced to label chemical residues. This can lead us down the path to more unfortunate cases like DDT, Chlordane, Asbestos, etc. The list of banned or heavily restricted chemicals are constantly growing, and it’s terrifying!

We think it’s time to take food transparency a step further: Empowering consumers by spreading awareness about the truth on chemicals found in food. At TestSharing, we currently test for 420 pesticides and 4 heavy metals, including the popular chemical glyphosate. Our database is growing, and through our app we give you access to all of our tests results done on food - giving you the ability to see what’s really in your good.
